GMMQ deplores the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada

12.20.2012 - On February 9, the Supreme Court of Canada refused to recognize the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) as broadcasters subject to the Broadcasting Act. These are only seen as entities that provide only the means of transmission and are therefore not subject to the Canadian Broadcasting Act.

The Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec (GMMQ) is highly disappointed by this decision, because "ISPs have a responsibility for the content that travels over the Web and should thus be subject to the same regulations as other broadcasters," said Luc Fortin, President of the GMMQ.
