Prix du CALQ à la création artistique de Montréal 2012-2013

The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) is pleased to be associated with the Prix de Montréal pour les arts et la culture, organized by the Conseil des arts de Montréal, in order to award the Prix du CALQ à la création artistique de Montréal. The prize is being awarded in addition to the Prix à la création artistique granted in all regions of Québec.

The new prize, accompanied by a cash award of $ 5 000, will be granted to a Montréal artist or artists' group for an original work whose excellence has been recognized by the individual's or the groups' peers, the media and the general public. 

Objectives of the Prize :
The Prix du CALQ à la création artistique de Montréal is intended primarily to :

  • highlight the excellence of artistic creation;
  • promote the recognition of professionnal artists and writers in their communities;
  • offer tangible support for their careers;
  • heighten public awareness of the work for which the prize was awarded. 
Eligibility requirements:
Professionnal artists and writers and artists' in the realms of the circus arts, the digital arts, the visual arts, the multidisciplinary arts, cinema, video, popular songs, dance, literature, storytelling, the arts and crafts, music, theatre and architectural research are eligible for the Prix du CALQ pour la création artistique de Montréal.
 
Within the framework of the Prix du CALQ à la création artistique de Montréal, the term "artist" also includes architectural research professionals. An "architectural research professional" refers to an architect, a landscape architect, an urban planner or an environmental designer.

Submission of a candidacy :
Artists or writers or artists' or writers' groups that wish to submit their candidacy for the Prix du CALQ pour la création artistique de Montréal must submit by email only a notice of intention before August 24, 2012 (by 5pm). A third party may submit the candidacy.
 
The selection committee will choose a maximum of 20 notices of intention.
