Les Arts s’emballent!: First benefit for the Fonds Jean-Carignan

The GMMQ has officially launched the Fonds Jean-Carignan by joining forces with the Union des Artistes’ Jean-Duceppe Fund and the Serge-Lemoyne Fund of the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels (RAAV) in a festive charity event called Les Arts s’emballent! on Saturday, December 3rd in the Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme (GEL) at the Place des Arts (PDA).

During this gala event visual artists, stage and screen artists and musicians sold works of art and various items related to their artistic endeavours and a variety of musical, theatrical and artistic performances were presented.

The Fonds Jean-Carignan received on this occasion an incredible donation of $ 16,000 from the musicians of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM).

Upon presenting the check, Jean-Luc Gagnon, representative of the musicians of the OSM, said that "the musicians were very sensibilized by the creation of the Fonds Jean Carignan. The 92 musicians and several extra musicians have decided to join their forces to help the cause in which they firmly believe: assisting musicians in need. "

Luc Fortin, president of the GMMQ, said he was touched by this wonderful gesture of solidarity from the OSM musicians, but also by the wave of generosity of the members of the GMMQ in general, because since the creation of this fund, we received many donations.

Thank to the OSM musicians for their outstanding contribution as well as all members who have added an amount on their annual dues to the Fonds Jean Carignan.

The participation of the Fonds Jean-Carignan to this event is possible thanks to the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, our sponsor
