The Guild submits a bid for Montréal to host the 2017 FIM IOC

Mylène Cyr, Executive Director of the Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec, will attend from February 24 to 26 the International Orchestra Conference (IOC) organized by the International Federation of Musicians (FIM) in Oslo, Norway. On that occasion, Mrs. Cyr will officially submit the candidacy of Montreal as the host city for the 4th edition of the International Orchestra Conference in 2017.

This initiative of the Guilde is also supported by the three levels of government (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain and the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, as well as Culture Montréal. The AFM, for its part, ignored our resquest for support for this project. The International Orchestra Conference gathers for three days around 250 delegates (musicians, experts, orchestras Directors, etc.) from around the world to discuss issues related to orchestras operation.

The Guild wishes to thank Tourisme Montréal for its implication and support in this project.

We cross our fingers that Montreal will be chosen to host the 2017 FIM IOC!

Costs related to Mrs Cyr's stay are assumed by Tourisme Montréal.
